The Skit Guys are Coming to Detroit Lakes!

posted May 24, 2019, 7:26 AM by Cf Church   [ updated Sep 23, 2019, 9:11 AM ]

An Evening with The Skit Guys

with a Special Appearance by Kent Dudley & Bended Knee

Saturday, September 21st, 2019
7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Historic Holmes Theatre
806 Summit Ave, Detroit Lakes, MN  map

Tommy Woodard and Eddie James are The Skit Guys. For over twenty years they have been creating and performing captivating drama and clean comedy that has become a staple at faith-based youth conferences and church related events. Their family friendly live performances feature sketch comedy and improv, along with hilarious musical bits and audience participation.

Tommy and Eddie have been best friends since high school. Think of them as the wise guys in class who had everyone laughing and managed to make a career out of it. They fell in love with acting in their school’s theater productions and had a knack for making people laugh. The Skit Guys were born when their youth pastor asked them to write and perform a skit for the youth group. Eddie explains, “We’d steal everything from Saturday Night Live and try to make it Christian or give it some ‘God message’.”

Since then, they’ve been writing and performing hilarious and poignant skits live and on screen. Tommy and Eddie have traveled the world performing at events, churches, and conferences. They have grown SkitGuys.com into a media resource with countless videos and scripts that are used in churches all over the world. When they’re not performing or shooting new videos, both guys serve in their local churches, enjoying good food (especially pizza and fries!), and loving life with their families.

Interestingly, the pair settled with their families in different states. Eddie resides in Texas and Tommy in Oklahoma, but according to Tommy, they stay in constant contact. “We talk on the phone like sisters. We are on the phone every day and what we do is an extension of our friendship, so it’s really just like getting together with your best friend.”

Come enjoy an evening of laughs with this outrageous Christian comedy duo!  www.skitguys.com

Work as Worship Retreat 2019

posted Feb 1, 2019, 12:40 PM by Cf Church   [ updated Feb 22, 2019, 9:27 AM ]

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 22nd, 2019 • 7:30 AM - 2:30 PM

God has a purpose for us on this earth. That calling is to be on mission for God where He has placed us. And since many people spend the majority of their waking hours on the job, we have to stop compartmentalizing life into “spiritual activities” and “work activities.” How are we living examples of the gospel while we work?

You’re invited to the 2019 Work as Worship Retreat, where influential business leaders and pastors will discuss what it looks like to connect faith and work. Taking place as a 1–Day Local Church Retreat on February 22, 2019, the live event in Dallas will be web-streamed to over 2,000 churches around the world. Christian Fellowship will be the satellite site for this area.

Cost: $30 (includes lunch).

"Rock (Jesus) Around the Clock" 12-Hour All-Church Prayer

posted Dec 10, 2018, 2:05 PM by Cf Church   [ updated Jan 9, 2019, 8:31 AM ]

Prayer Day: January 7, 2019 • 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM
Everyone, please sign up by January 4, 2019.
(You can sign up for as many 15-minute slots as you like,
but please do not double up until all time slots are filled)

Following are some suggestions, but please pray as the Spirit leads for the Spirit, Soul and Body:

For Protection from Satan

In light of the challenges of ministry especially when moving in to the calling God has for CF concerning the 400, there has been some attacks that need prayer. Especially for the Pastors, but also for the elders and staff. As the word says in 1Peter 5:8 we need to be praying for protection from Satan in such a time as this more than any!  “Be sober-minded; be watchful.  Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour”. And we all know,he comes to kill, steal and destroy Spirit, Soul and Body.

Father, please protect our pastors, elders and staff from the attacks of Satan. Give them the strength to endure temptation and stand firm against the accusations Satan loves to whisper in their ears. Help them to stand firm in your service, always fighting for the faith and for the church body.

Please Pray For A Healthy Physical Body

But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified (1 Corinthians 9:27).

Ministry can take a tremendous toll on the pastor’s, elders and staff’s body in this time of change. Yes, our bodies are temples, but they are often broken temples. Long nights at the hospital, high-stress situations, and ever-present discouragement can quickly lead to burnout and body betrayal. Not only do we need spiritual strength, we need physical strength as well. Pray for your pastors, elders and staff that they would be sustained in body and mind.

Father, please give my pastorals supernatural strength. Protect them from sickness and disease. Give them your energy to keep serving faithfully. Help them to find periods of rest and recovery. Guide them to still waters.

For A Strong Marriage and Family

Therefore, an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God’s church(1 Timothy 3:2-6)

Church history is littered with the skeletons of pastors, elders and church staff whose marriages and families fell apart under the strain of pastoral ministry.  Especially Pastors, and as 1 Timothy states, if a pastor can’t manage his family, how can he manage the church of God? Satan loves to sabotage a pastor’s family, and your pastor needs prayer that God will give him a healthy marriage and family.

Father, please give our pastors, elders and staff supernaturally healthy marriages. Strengthen the bonds between them and their wives. Encourage them all in ministry. Give them all wisdom to manage their family and to keep you at the center, not ministry. Also pray for their children that you would let them know you and follow you.

Sustained By Prayer

1Thessalonians5:25 “Brethren, pray for us”.

In some ways, pastors are sustained by the prayers of their people. Obviously, God is the one who ultimately sustains pastors, but one of his primary means is through the prayers for pastors.

When it comes to why you should pray for your pastors, take the words of Charles Spurgeon to heart:

No man can do me a truer kindness in this world than to pray for me.

Do your pastors and their families a true kindness today! And please also pray for the elder board and staff.
